AI visibility apps for Shopify, compared by the maker of one

We make ShelfSight, one of the apps below, so read this with that in mind. We've tried to be fair: every fact here comes from the app's own Shopify App Store listing on 29 September 2026, and we say where other apps are ahead of us. Prices change, so check the listing before you choose.

More than 35 apps now promise to make your store visible to ChatGPT and other AI assistants. They do three different jobs, and most of the confusion comes from treating them as one.

1. Apps that write files for AI crawlers

These create an llms.txt file, a plain-text summary of your site meant for AI tools, often with robots.txt settings for AI bots.

They're cheap and quick to set up, and their review counts show merchants like that. What they don't do is tell you whether any assistant recommends you. Google also says it doesn't use these files: creating them "will neither harm nor help your site's visibility or rankings in Google Search, as Google Search ignores them" (Google Search Central, updated 10 July 2026). 2. Apps that rate how ready your store is

These check your pages and products against a list of rules and give your store a readiness rating, usually out of 100, with fixes.

  • IndexGPT: free plan, then $16 and $45 a month, 144 reviews, Built for Shopify. Prompt tracking is on the $45 plan.
  • ShopRank AI: free plan, then $9.99 a month plus $9.99 per 100 products, 34 reviews, Built for Shopify.
  • LinkGPT: $49 a month, 27 reviews, Built for Shopify.

A readiness rating works well as a checklist. It measures your store, though, not the answers. A store can rate well and still not be named, because assistants also weigh what other sites say about it.

3. Apps that ask the assistants and count the answers

These put real buying questions to the assistants on a schedule and report what comes back.

  • Kedra: free plan, then $25, $79 and $199 a month, 47 reviews, Built for Shopify, 23 languages. It names the most assistants of any app here, including Copilot, Meta AI and Apple Intelligence, and adds a readiness rating and fixes.
  • FoundGPT: free plan, then $19, $39 and $79 a month, 10 reviews. All five of the assistants it names are on the $79 plan.
  • Kwik GEO: free plan, then $50 up to $749 a month, 27 reviews. 50 to 200 prompts a week on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI.
  • Visibility Mesh: $29, $79 and $179 a month with a trial, 14 reviews. Includes Google AI Overviews, with a rating out of 100.
  • AEO Tracker: free plan with ChatGPT only, then $9.99, $29.99 and $99.99 a month; launched August 2026. 30 questions a week for $29.99.
  • ShelfSight, ours: free plan with a first scan, then $29, $59 and $99 a month with a 7-day trial; launched July 2026 and no reviews yet. 10, 25 or 50 questions a week, each asked on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews on every paid plan.

Where others are ahead of us: Kedra covers more assistants, has the Built for Shopify badge and a lower entry price. AEO Tracker and Kwik GEO give you more weekly questions per dollar. The file and rating apps have hundreds of reviews, and we have none yet.

What we do differently: we report counts of answers, such as "named in 3 of your last 5 scans", instead of a single rating, and we leave out answers that don't clearly say either way instead of counting them as misses. We also check the prices and stock the assistants quote for your products against your catalog. Our methodology sets out the rules.

How to choose

If you only want an llms.txt file, a free generator does that; just know that Google ignores it. If you want a to-do list for your product pages, a readiness rating is a good start. If you want to know whether you're actually recommended, pick a tracker, and ask it three questions:

  • Which assistants does it ask on the plan you'd pay for?
  • Does it show you the answers behind every number, so you can check them?
  • Does it tell you when a result is too small to trust, or does it turn a handful of answers into a percentage?

Whichever you choose, ask the same questions for a few weeks before you judge a change. Assistants answer differently each time, so one check is a snapshot, not a verdict.
